On January 3rd the renovation of the St. Vincent de Paul building will begin. This project supported by the Pastoral Council is the result of a six month consultation process with the contractor PDG Builders working with the Building and Grounds Committee to determine the work needed to secure and update the building. The Archdiocesan Building Committee reviewed the contract and final approval was given by the parish Finance Committee a few weeks ago.
The 94 year old building is in good structural shape but needs to be secured and sealed to prevent further deterioration. The project will include new windows, new exterior coating, and new restrooms. There was extensive discussion on replacing the windows with wood frames to maintain the original look but early on it was determined it was something we cannot afford. The new windows are a vinyl composite that will last for many years without maintenance as would wood windows. Due to the extensive brick work around some to the windows and the difficulty matching mortar and bricks it was decided to coat the building will an exterior coating that will not need replacing for some years. I acknowledge this is a major change of the look of the campus but given the monies we have available in our savings this is the best solution.
During the renovation project, due to safety concerns, St. Vincent de Paul, RCIA, Choir, Marriage Preparation sessions, Legion of Mary, and CCE classes, have generously agreed to relocate for the duration of the project. During the project unauthorized persons will not be permitted in the building.
The renovation is scheduled to be completed in April 2017.
Our Parish is involved in praying for Vocations to the Religious Life (Priests,Deacon, and Sisters) The Vocations Chalice exerience will help encourage our parishioners and their families to pray for the gift of a Religious Vocation for our young men and woman. The spirit calls our youth and members of our CCE program to serve the Church. We hope that our prayers for Religious Vocations will inspire everyone to listen attentively to the call of God's Spirit, and respond with generous hearts.
