Sister Odessa Stanford
Sister Odessa Stanford, SFCC completed her undergraduate studies in Physical Education and Psychology from Sam Houston State University. Sister Odessa
completed her graduate studies in Administration in a Multicultural Setting along with a Principal Certification EC-12 from the University of Houston, Central Campus. Previously she served two Catholic Schools, Pre K3-8
th grade, and has had extensive work experiences; among these being a Mortgage Lenders Court Records Researcher for Credo of Houston. She was a teacher and served in various positions at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. Currently, she is a full-time staff support personnel for the Harris County Department of Education.
Sister Odessa is a member of St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, a member of the Drexel Society Houston Chapter (2016), and a charter member of the Sisters In The Spirit Houston (2001)Membership: National Black Religious Sisters Conference 2007-Present National Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development 1999-Present. Her areas of ministry are urban education as a school leader and women’s ministry as a speaker and spiritual coach for young adults.
Sister Odessa comes from a family of ten children and she graduated from Bay City High School, Bay City, Texas. She was raised in the Baptist church and converted to Catholicism as a young adult. Sister Odessa made her first (Temporary) Profession of Vows as a Sister of the Blessed Sacrament, and thus celebrated her Profession of Perpetual Vows as a Sister for Christian Community on June 16, 2016.
