The Sacrament of Confirmation for Adults
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Church, together with Baptism and Eucharist. Confirmation completes Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seals or "confirms" the baptized in Christ and more fully equips them for active participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church (CCC 1285).
The Sacrament of Confirmation builds on the gifts received at Baptism and brings the faithful, as adults closer to God and to our Church.
Adults, eighteen years and older having previously received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist and are currently participating fully in the life of the Catholic Church are invited to participate in the formation process for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The Sacrament preparation sessions including a retreat begin in February. Confirmation is conferred by a Bishop most often on or near the date of the Churchs’ celebration of Pentecost. Actual dates and locations for Confirmation follow the Church Calendar and specific circumstances.
