Come join the 10:30 choir as we worship and enhance the Liturgy! The choir is made up of volunteers over the age of 18, who are dedicated, committed to serving and are fun-loving. All levels of singing are welcome from beginner to advanced. Practices are held Thursday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 in the St. Vincent de Paul Building, Room 1, otherwise known as the Music Room. The choir sings every Sunday from September to June at the 10:30am mass on Sunday and sometimes the 5:30 mass on Saturday and they also sing on Christmas Eve, Holy Week, Confirmation, and other special events held throughout the year.
If you play an instrument (guitar, violin, or flute) and would like to share your talents, please join the music ministry. We are always looking to add quality and beauty to the mass and other special events.
If you are interested in joining or would like to get more information, you can send and email to the address listed in the contacts or call Mary Ghar, Music Director at the Parish office at 713-864-2653 x207. You can also come by after mass or come to a practice and check it out.
Remember singing is twice praying!
1. Friends! You will make new friends with the same interest as you--making music.
2. Psalm 100 will come to life for you as you make joyful noise unto the Lord
3. Intellectual stimulation--when you make music, you are using both sides of your brain simultaneously. Science has proven that singing is good for both your brain and your body. Singing involves both.
4. Serving the Lord--considering all He does for us, it's just a little giving back to Him
5. Serving others--the congregation really loves it when the choir leads the singing.
6. Every once in a while, you will experience a sense of spirituality that accompanies great moments in music.
7. You get to sing great music such as The Hallelujah Chorus or songs written by David Haas.
8. Choir parties--they're fun! We have several throughout the year.
9. You will be setting a good example for all the children and teenagers.
10. And like St. Augustine said, "Singing is twice praying."
BEST OF ALL--------NO AUDITIONS!!!!!!! ALL ARE WELCOME as the song goes!
